APPLICATION AND USE
Preparation PREVIOUSLY ANTIFOULED SURFACE
In Good Condition Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. If old antifouling is incompatible or unknown, seal with
Primocon.
In Poor Condition Use Interstrip to remove all traces of antifouling.
PRIMING All preparation for bare substrates is covered on the appropriate primer datasheet.
BARE GRP Gelshield 200 for osmosis protection, or Primocon.
STEEL/IRON Interprotect or Primocon.
LEAD Interprotect or Primocon.
WOOD Interprotect or Primocon.
Hints Mixing Shake or stir thoroughly before use, using a wooden or plastic stirring stick. Leave to stand for 10 minutes for air bubbles to disperse.
Thinner Thinning is not recommended.
Airless Spray Pressure: 1500 psi. Tip size: 519.
Other Antifoulings should only be vacuum sanded or wet sanded. Never burn-off old antifoulings. True colour will develop after immersion. To prevent premature failure, ensure the correct amount of paint is applied using the coverage as a guide.
Cleaner Clean equipment immediately after painting using fresh water. Once paint has dried, clean equipment using YTA085 Thinners No. 3.
Some Important Points:
* Upon application, Micron WA (Professional) dries to a finish that is unlike a conventional antifouling. It may appear matt,
with colour variations or unevenness caused by different rates of water evaporation (depending on the condition of the
underlying substrate). However, a uniform finish and bright, vibrant colour will develop upon immersion
* Colour residue can be rubbed from the surface, even when dry for several days. This is the nature of the product and
does not mean that the coating is not dry
* Some colour may wash off from the paint when high pressure fresh water washed
* Do not apply when raining or if rain is imminent
* Do not apply between tides
* Care must be taken to ensure adequate ventilation is provided for sufficient drying conditions
Compatibility/Substrates GRP, Wood, Steel/Iron, Lead.
Not suitable for use over Aluminium/Alloy substrates or zinc sprayed surfaces. Can be applied direct over most types of antifoulings, provided they are in sound condition Micron WA (Professional) cannot be applied direct to GRP. If applying to GRP, apply Gelshield 200 or Primocon beforehand. Refer to relevant datasheet.
Number of Coats By brush/roller, 2 coats for one season's performance and 3 coats for two seasons' performance when the recommended DFT is applied.
By airless spray, 2 coats for up to two seasons' performance when the recommended DFT is applied.
Apply an extra stripe coat in areas of high wear such as chines, rudders, sterngear and any leading edges.
Coverage (Theoretical) - 9.17 m²/lt by brush/roller, 6.10 m²/lt by spray
(Practical) - 8.3 m²/lt by brush/roller, 3.66 m²/lt by spray
Recommended DFT per coat 40 microns dry by brush / roller, 61 microns dry by spray
Recommended WFT per coat 108 microns wet by brush / roller, 165 microns wet by spray
Application Methods Airless Spray, Brush, Roller
